Grade 00 & 0
In Pre-Primary, we learn through play and the movement of our bodies. We have activities inside to help us with our arts and creative work and games that work our brains really hard!
When we get outside, we play freely on all of the equipment we are so lucky to have in our very own playground (away from the big girls!). In Grade 0 we love our swimming lessons and the days when we go to the computer room and the library. Even though we are still little, we can do such a lot! When we finish Grade 0, we are old enough to join the big girls and wear a smart uniform!
Grade 1 - 3
We know the teachers at our school look at the ‘whole child’. That means they think about the spiritual, cultural, emotional, physical and social parts of our lives.
Our lessons are divided up into three learning areas; Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills.
Literacy includes learning to read, write and speaking and listening. Not only do we learn English but from Grade 1 we also have Xhosa and Afrikaans lessons.
In Numeracy, we learn all about Maths and develop our understanding of working with numbers. We also like to do lots of practical maths which is great fun!
The third area of learning relates to Life Skills. This is when we discover things about the world around us and gain a greater understanding of the environment in which we live.
To help increase our Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills development we also have exciting lessons in Drama, Computers, Physical Education, Library and Music.
All grades have trips out of school, maybe to the beach or the zoo and we have such amazing times learning out of school. When we get to Grade 3, we even go on an overnight camp to Forest Way.
